Daniel J. Siegel: El cerebro del niño (2018, Alba)

Review of 'El cerebro del niño' on 'Goodreads'

IMO very good reflections and practical tips for dealing with children in a healthy way.

At the same time, at least in the Kindle version, I missed references to the scientific researches and publications where the statements of the authors were validated: there was NONE. That's the main reason for my low rating...

Michael C Feathers: Working Effectively with Legacy Code (2004, Prentice Hall)

Review of 'Working Effectively with Legacy Code' on 'Goodreads'

Despite the years elapsed since it was written, and the high expectations... it didn't disappoint me at all :-)

I already knew some techniques thanks to Sandro Mancuso screencasts. I got lots of useful reminders, new learnings and reflections and some new techniques.

It's also nice to see techniques for different languages/paradigms. This book is a great complement to the Refactoring one, I can only highly recommend it! :-)

William MacAskill: Doing Good Better (2015, Gotham)

Review of 'Doing Good Better' on 'Goodreads'

A very interesting read, it approaches the decision about "doing good" to the others from an almost "scientific" approach (or at least pretending it).

I feel some reasonings are too "utilitarian", but still I think it was really worthy reading it and I would absolutetly recommend it :-)

"Verdadero legado y quintaesencia de sus investigaciones, Miller no sólo explica, como en sus ensayos …

Review of 'Salvar tu vida' on 'Goodreads'

Interesting book. It exposes several thoughts/theories/observations that it had been in my mind for several years now, so it resonated to me a lot. I found the last section, the "diary of a mother", highly touching...

Despite that, my rating is "low" because:
I found it too "binary" and simplistic in her identification of "the main source of evil/suffering".
Maybe too redundant with the message, too repetitive sometimes...
* Despite the high value that I give to the author's experiences and opinions, and how much they resonate to me, unfortunately not a single study is mentioned to back up anything (no data, no scientific studies, no numbers at all, nothing...).
