Threatened, Zeus banishes her to a deserted island, where she hones her occult craft, tames wild beasts and crosses paths with many of the most famous figures in all of mythology.
Incredible feminist retelling and reframing of the story of a mythological figure that served as a foil and consultant to a man instead of having her own agency. Brilliantly told, touching upon major Greek myths and giving depth to and a fresh perspective on the women in these stories.

I liked it, after the end there is information about characters (both mortal and immortal) which was also enjoyable. I did not know the book was so adjacent to Odyssey, it is quite a specific part of it though... I liked the tension between mortal and immortal all throughout, recommended.
En mis intentos por ser objetiva le pondré 4/5 por eso de que 300 páginas dedicadas a la vida de una mujer exiliada en una isla se pueden hacer pesadas. Pero el exilio es parte de las reglas y Miller sabe divertirse (y divertirte) cumpliéndolas a su manera, darles la vuelta y utilizarlas para conectar los mitos entre sí de manera convincente.
Si hay algo que me encante de la mitología griega, y que ha sabido mantener muy bien, es lo ruines, frívolos y arrogantes que son sus dioses. Quizás mi único problema es que, en general, sólo muestra la peor parte para ensalzar a Circe, en vez de permitirle ser mala también.
