After missing the bus to Magic School, the twins Dani and Dorian begin their education as wizards with Master Pendragon culminating in a series of adventures with a broad group of friends: Nico, the most troublemaker of them all, who will gradually open up, the cheesy and romantic princess Monica, who wants to save her prince, and the reserved Mark.

However, not everything is as nice as it seems. What these twins do not expect is to be pursued by different groups of magical families, who believe that firstly they are traitors to the witches and secondly, that one of the two will be the King or Queen of a prophecy.

Despite its seemingly childish style, Hooky has a dark fantasy feel to it that I loved. Although it may not come across as such, don't be put off by its eye-catching and cute style because Hooky also has dark moments: some people die, and many other horrible things. Sometimes the story indeed felt a bit chaotic, meaning as if the order was a bit random, but I didn't stop loving it at any moment.

I found all the characters adorable, flawless, and funny. They have incredible personalities and are different from what we are used to normally. Finally, I loved the relationship between the Wytte twins. A story where the siblings get along so well, look out for each other, and have such a beautiful relationship is to be appreciated. All in all, a great graphic novel/webtoon and I can't wait for the next volume to be published.

The Titan’s Curse is the third novel in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. In it, we follow once again the story of Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon, who with his friends must embark on a dangerous adventure to save his friend Annabeth and Artemis (goddess of the hunt, the wilderness, wild animals, the Moon, and chastity) who have been kidnapped.

At first, Percy must venture on a mission with Annabeth and Thalia, the daughter of Zeus, who, in the previous book, returns to her human form, as Grover notifies them he has found a set of half-blood siblings. After a battle with a manticore, Annabeth and Artemis are kidnapped. The forces of evil are gathering and the Titans are awakening. To save their friend and Artemis from death and stop the war, the Hunters of Artemis and the heroes must work together.

All the novels in this saga are growing on me nicely. The plot is getting better by the minute; the pieces are fitting together and the ending is promising. I liked the mature way Percy deals with situations, both personally and towards others. The characters we already knew from the previous books improve considerably in this one and the ones introduced all have some fascinating storylines. Although the plot twists were not astonishing, the book is still intriguing.

The Sea of Monsters is the sequel to The Lightning Thief. In this novel, Percy returns to Camp Half-Blood after being attacked by monsters on his last day of school. However, Percy is not returning alone, as he is joined by Annabeth and Tyson, a giant boy. When they arrive at Camp Half-Blood, they find out that Thalia's tree has been poisoned and is dying. As a result, the camp is no longer safe.

Percy persuades Tyson and Annabeth to quest together to find the Golden Fleece. To find the Golden Fleece, Percy needs to help out Grover, who is held prisoner by a cyclops on an island in the middle of the Sea of Monsters. Throughout the story, Percy will learn a lot of secrets concerning his family, which will make him reconsider whether being the son of Poseidon is a good thing or just a misfortune.

This second installment of the saga has been quite entertaining and I still find it amazing the way Rick Riordan includes mythology in his stories. Tyson was a wonderful character! He is such a great person and I loved the evolution of Percy and his feelings for his brother throughout the book.

The Lightning Thief follows the story of Percy Jackson, who discovers that he is a demigod. In particular, he finds out that he is the son of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. As a result, he is sent to the Half-Blood Camp, a summer camp that offers shelter to demigods as they are hunted by various types of monsters.

However, not everything is perfect for Percy. His world is turned upside down when he learns that his uncle, Zeus the sky god, believes that he has stolen the lightning bolt from which his powers derive. Consequently, Percy is assigned with the mission to return the bolt, and to do so he must go to the Underworld and take it from Hades, the god of the dead and the king of the Underworld. In this adventure he will not be alone; he will be accompanied by his two new friends, Annabeth Chase and Grover Underwood. Likewise, their adventure will be full of encounters with mythological characters, ranging from Medusa to Ares, the Greek god of courage and war.

This was not the first time I have attempted to read this book and I was expecting a rather fluffy read. I also have to confess that I have sinned from watching the movies and already had an idea of what I was going to encounter. I found the story very entertaining. I love how Rick Riordan incorporates mythology into the story.

Spoonbenders introduces us to the story of the Telemacus Family, a unique family that possesses psychic powers. These powers made them famous in the 70s and they were even featured on a TV show (The Mike Douglas Show). In this show, it was allegedly exposed that they were frauds and had no powers.

Years later, Matty Telemacus discovers that he has inherited his family's powers, specifically his grandmother's powers. Matty can leave his body and do out-of-body experiences. These powers lead him to eventually want to learn more about his own family, specifically his grandmother Maureen, her sudden death, and her relationships with the government and the Cold War.

I enjoyed this novel. It is true, that until about halfway through the book, I was having a hard time digesting it all since I didn't see where the author wanted to go with this story. However, the story is astonishing, it is narrated in such a way that we get to know all the members of the family, from Teddy and Maureen to their children, Irene, Frankie, and Buddy; and Matty, Irene's son. Throughout the narrative we travel between the past and the present, we get to know the rags of this family, their connections with the government, the mafia, etc. Little by little, as you go along, you fit the pieces together and get to know more about this great family.

Olive is a third-year Ph.D. candidate who decides to fake date Dr. Adam Carlsen, who she ends up falling in love with. Yep, this is a fake dating tripe book. Olive wants to ensure her friend Anh that she has no interest in Jeremy, her ex-boyfriend, and Anh's crush. Anh doesn't believe it and she leaves Olive with no choice but to take drastic measures. She ends up kissing the first man she sees in the hall.

This man is Adam Carlsen, the grumpy professor who has a reputation for being "antagonistic and unapproachable". As she is trying to convince her friend Anh, she enters into a fake date arrangement with Adam, who also seeks to benefit from this fake relationship.

I felt like the book had a slow start, but it kept getting better. I'm not into professor/student romances, but this one was an exception. It had a great mishmash between juicy misunderstandings, hurt/love/comfort, a nice guy who acts grumpy, etc.

The Last Battle is the last book of the Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. The novel presents a Narnia which is full of turmoil, a false Ashlan has emerged bringing with him disorder and chaos. We also follow the adventures of the last king of Narnia (Tirian) who throughout his adventure is accompanied by Poggin the dwarf, his faithful friend Jewel the unicorn, Eustace, Jill and the Pevensie siblings.

I started this book with high expectations since it was the last of all the chronicles series, but to be honest I found it quite meh. I found the ending that C.S. Lewis chose for this wonderful world extremely curious and at the same time quite disappointing.

In this novel you find a Narnia that is in danger and is in the middle of a great battle which, after all, is the battle between good and evil.

All the characters we meet throughout the saga return sooner or later to Narnia, well, it must be specified clearly. They all return except Susan, since she is more interested in "other things".

What I didn't quite understand is how at the end, it is explained that they died in our mundane world and are going to live happily ever after in the new Narnia. But where is Susan?

It' s true that later on it is explained that Susan will find her way back to Narnia and specifically to this new Narnia, but in the meantime all her family except Eustace parents have died and she remains in our mundane world.

Apart from the fact that I didn't like Susan's ending since she was one of my favorite characters, the book doesn't seem to improve much more.

The ending had me a bit shocked. Narnia ceases to exist so that everyone who decides to follow Ashlan ends up back in Narnia, but of course, this is a new Narnia.The explanation given in the book is that all the worlds/countries are a copy or shadow of something in Ashlan's real world. I completely understand the reference and symbolism of this new Narnia with heaven and the way the door scene refers to the final judgment, i.e. the people/creatures that decide to follow Ashlan go to the new Narnia and the others go somewhere else.

In conclusion, I enjoyed the series. It is true that judging it as a whole I don´t believe it was wonderful, but it was entertaining. It is true that if my future self wants to reread them, I recommend her to take some time between books, since I ended up a little bit saturated at the end.
