At the beginning of the twentieth century Spain has been annexed by the largest empire Europe has ever known. After the pacification, military elites choose a village in the exterior as a retirement destination for managers in charge of the occupation. Eva Holman, the wife of one of them, lives peacefully in this idyllic retreat until she receives an unexpected visit from a man who begins taking property and upends her entire life.
