The Sea of Monsters is the sequel to The Lightning Thief. In this novel, Percy returns to Camp Half-Blood after being attacked by monsters on his last day of school. However, Percy is not returning alone, as he is joined by Annabeth and Tyson, a giant boy. When they arrive at Camp Half-Blood, they find out that Thalia's tree has been poisoned and is dying. As a result, the camp is no longer safe.
Percy persuades Tyson and Annabeth to quest together to find the Golden Fleece. To find the Golden Fleece, Percy needs to help out Grover, who is held prisoner by a cyclops on an island in the middle of the Sea of Monsters. Throughout the story, Percy will learn a lot of secrets concerning his family, which will make him reconsider whether being the son of Poseidon is a good thing or just a misfortune.

This second installment of the saga has been quite entertaining and I still find it amazing the way Rick Riordan includes mythology in his stories. Tyson was a wonderful character! He is such a great person and I loved the evolution of Percy and his feelings for his brother throughout the book.
